Detailed Class Information
The Play of the Hand course briefly reviews basic bidding, teaches the five playing techniques (promotion, establishing long suits, finessing, ruffing and discarding), hold-up plays and adds some higher level bidding conventions such as strong 2C bids, slam bidding and preempts. Jacoby Transfer plays are included in the course. Prerequisite: the Bidding course or equivalent experience.
The Defense course includes a brief review of the bidding rules and the playing techniques from course levels I (Bidding) and II (Play of the Hand). Some of the defense topics include opening leads, second- and third-hand play, defensive signaling (attitude, count and suit preference) and techniques for defending against specific types of declarer play. It will also introduce another bidding convention – Negative Doubles. Prerequisite: the Bidding course and the Play of the Hand course or equivalent experience.
